CITAQUA - Aquaculture Innovation and Technology Centre was presented on the 16th November, National Sea Day, by Ecomare - Laboratory for Innovation and Sustainability of Marine Biological Resources from the University of Aveiro.
The future equipment, which will be installed in the old shellfish purification facilities in the Coastal Fishing Harbour of the Port of Aveiro, will occupy an area of 2800 m2.
CITAQUA will be the third unit of ECOMARE, being composed by two laboratories: the National Laboratory for Traceability of the Fishery and Aquaculture Products and the Laboratory for the Super-Intensive Production of Algae and Bivalves 5.0.
This new project entails an investment of seven million euros, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
