A collaboration agreement was signed last Friday, February 10th, in Salamanca, between the Administração do Porto de Aveiro (APA), S.A. and ZALDESA - Sociedade Zona de Atividades Logísticas de Salamanca, S.A.U. The document was signed by Eduardo Feio, President of the Board of Directors of APA, S.A., and Carlos Carbayo, Mayor of Salamanca and President of ZALDESA.
With the objective of promoting the increase in the railway services between the Port of Aveiro and the region of Castilla y León, this agreement aims to reinforce the collaboration actions, creating communication channels, where the sharing of information relative to technical projects, commercial actions and future applications to European funds, namely those aimed at the development of the respective intermodal terminals. With this agreement it is also intended to contribute to the promotion of the rail corridor, increasing the flow of goods between the Port of Aveiro and that Spanish region.
It should be recalled that APA plans to start construction of the Intermodal Terminal in the Logistics and Industrial Activities Zone (ZALI) during this year, with a deadline for execution of 16 months, and that the project for construction of the Intermodal Railway Platform of Salamanca has already been approved, with its construction also expected to begin during this year, with a deadline for execution of 18 months.
The agreement, now signed, thus intends that APA and ZALDESA offer complementary logistics and transport services, since both are part of the Iberian section of the Atlantic Corridor and have the common objective of capturing cargo, as well as the establishment of logistics operators and industries.
