The Port of Aveiro recorded an increase of 2.4% in the handling of goods in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, with a total of 2,977,584 tonnes of cargo handled.
Liquid bulk, driven by fuels, was the main contributor to this performance with a growth of 5.1%.
In solid bulk, agrifood was the highlight with a 63.3% increase, while non-metallic minerals and cement fell by 28.6% and 38.8% respectively.
Breakbulk cargo fell compared to the same period in 2022, registering a decline of 3.9%, with metallurgical products leading the losses, down 32.7%. Forestry products increased by 21.3%.
In terms of containerized cargo, 5,977 TEU were handled in the first half of the year.
Exports during this period decreased by 17.9% compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of the year, 546 vessels called at the Port of Aveiro, 30 more than in the same period last year.
