From 22nd to 24th November, the Port of Aveiro hosted the "Operator for Combating Pollution at Sea" course, organised by the Directorate for Combating Pollution at Sea (DCPM), part of the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs (DGAM).
A total of 31 trainees from the Port of Aveiro Administration, the Maritime Authority and the Ílhavo and Velhos de Aveiro Volunteer Fire Brigades attended the course.
The course consisted of two days of theoretical classroom training, followed by a practical component consisting of two pollution scenarios: the first took place at the Liquid Bulk Terminal and the second at Praia da Barra, where the various anti-pollution equipment was tested.
These training sessions are particularly important for the Port of Aveiro, in order to maintain the smooth operation of the teams responsible for responding to accidental spills in order to preserve the surrounding environment.
