The Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz were present yesterday in Salamanca at the Meeting to Promote Rail Transport on the Iberian Atlantic Corridor and its Connection to Madrid, organised by Salamanca City Council.
Eduardo Feio, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz, highlighted the importance of the rail corridor for the transport of goods and the projects underway in both ports to improve their navigability, the construction of the intermodal terminal in Aveiro and the improvement of the operating conditions of the existing rail bundle in the port of Figueira da Foz, projects aimed at increasing the sea-rail connectivity in the transport of goods on the rail axis of the Iberian Atlantic Corridor.
The meeting was attended by the Portuguese Ambassador to Spain, several Portuguese and Spanish mayors, business organisations from the Castilla y León region and the central and northern regions of Portugal, and representatives of the Castilla y León regional government.
