On 12 April, the BBC Livorno left the Port of Aveiro, loaded with 15 wind blades, bound for Finland.
Consigned by PTM Ibérica and operated by the port operator of the same group, this was yet another ship to leave the Port of Aveiro, the national leader in the handling of this type of cargo, loaded with wind blades produced at the Siemens Gamesa factory in Vagos.
Since 2009, more than 5,000 wind blades have been loaded at the Port of Aveiro, an average of 300 blades/year and 28 blades/month. The first operation took place in January of that year at the South Terminal, where 4 blades manufactured by VESTAS EOLICA SAL in Madrid were loaded on board the ship "Flinterrebecca".
This is a sector of particular interest to the Port of Aveiro, given the links it has with companies already established in and around the port, which use the port's infrastructure to handle their cargo, such as Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Blades, which manufactures onshore wind blades, and CS Wind PT, which manufactures wind towers for the offshore industry, and which has strengthened its position in the market by investing heavily in the growth of its facilities in the ZALI - Logistics and Industrial Activity Zone of the Port of Aveiro.
