On the 28th, the Aveiro and Figueira da Foz Port Authority presented the second edition of the Ports' Cup. This year, the event will be dedicated to sailing and will take place on the 8th and 9th of June between the Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz.
The start of the Cruising Sailing regatta is scheduled for 10:00 on 8 June at the Aveiro Port Bar. After travelling 35 nautical miles, the fleet will arrive in Figueira da Foz at 15:00. On 9 June, from 12 noon, the remaining technical races will take place in the Figueira da Foz Ocean Basin.
A total of 20 boats have already registered for this year's edition of the Cruising Sail, with an estimated 100 sailors taking part.
This year's event is being technically organised by 11 sailing clubs that practice sailing in the Ria de Aveiro and Figueira da Foz, with the support of the municipalities of Figueira da Foz and Ílhavo, as well as the Port Communities of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz.
The prize-giving ceremony will take place on the last day of the competition at the Port of Figueira da Foz headquarters in Figueira da Foz.
It is important to recall the Ports' Cup's objective to enhance the connection between the two ports and capitalise on the current potential for water sports in both regions. The trophy, which is shared by all disciplines, will be on display for a year in each port and will bear the names of the winners inscribed on its base. This year, the Port of Figueira da Foz will be the venue for the trophy's display.
