The announcement of the launch of the public tender for the acquisition of specialized consultancy services to draw up the 2040 Master Plans for the Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz was published yesterday in the Diário da República, as provided for in the 2024-2026 Activity and Budget Plans of the Aveiro Port Authority and the Figueira da Foz Port Authority.

The preparation of the Master Plans for these port administrations will make it possible to: assess the current competitive position of the ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz; develop a development plan for the area under the jurisdiction of these ports; define their development strategy and its articulation with the surrounding regions; and, in addition, consolidate the implementation plan of the strategy defined for the horizon 2035 for the ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz and define the strategic actions to be carried out by both ports after 2035.

With a view to the 2040 horizon, the work should include revising the strategic plans of the ports in order to provide both port administrations with an up-to-date management tool, taking into account the new market challenges, the needs of the companies they serve and the national and European policy priorities defined for the transport and logistics sector, in particular decarbonization, strengthening the digitalization of their activities and focusing on intermodality. The work should also include updating the strategic lines of action for the development of both ports, as well as the mission, vision and strategic objectives for 2035 and 2040.

Within the scope of the work to be carried out, and with a view to defining and promoting sustainability, the principles of energy and environmental self-sufficiency, namely carbon neutrality, production of energy from renewable sources, energy efficiency, efficient management of water resources, waste management based on the circular economy and the promotion of biodiversity must be underpinned.

The tender has been launched for a baseline amount of 150,000 euros, with an execution period of 240 days, and the deadline for submitting proposals is 30 September.
