The Port of Aveiro is currently carrying out three maintenance dredging operations aimed at enhancing safety, navigability, and operational conditions for all vessels operating in these port areas. As part of these efforts, the Port of Aveiro Administration conducted a technical visit to the intervention zones, closely monitoring the progress of the operations on site.
Since May, three distinct interventions have been underway:
The maintenance dredging of the commercial sector of the Port of Aveiro, part of the sixth planned intervention in this area, involves the removal of 293,504 cubic meters of sediment. The operation is expected to last two months, with an investment of €606,358.
The maintenance dredging of the Coastal Fishing Port and the entrance to the dock aims to remove 113,000 cubic meters of sediment, with an investment of €1,680,500 and an expected duration of six months.
The maintenance dredging of the Deep-Sea Fishing Port and the small channel involves the removal of 48,000 cubic meters of sediment, with a cost of €425,200.
The dredged materials from these areas are being deposited near Costa Nova.
These operations, representing a total investment of over €2.5 million, reinforce the Port of Aveiro’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure, ensuring higher levels of safety, sustainability, and efficiency in port operations.
The works are being carried out by MMS Dragagens (Portugal) and Rohde Nielsen (Denmark).
