Last week, from June 24 to 26, the Port of Aveiro was in Tromsø, Norway, to participate in the consortium meeting of the European project A-AAGORA – Blueprint for Atlantic-Arctic Agora on cross-sectoral cooperation for restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems and increased climate resilience through transformative innovation. The project aims to protect the oceans by developing solutions that enhance the resilience of marine and coastal ecosystems in the face of climate change.
The Port of Aveiro’s participation in this international meeting—which brought together project partners for three days of intensive work—focused on exchanging ideas and engaging in discussions that contributed to the progress of the consortium’s activities. It also represented an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation among the various partners involved.
Held at the Norwegian demonstrator site, the meeting provided a platform to assess the project's progress and showcase the results achieved so far. The next steps will involve consolidating and implementing the outcomes of the discussions in preparation for the project’s conclusion, scheduled for 2026.
The Port of Aveiro thus reaffirms its commitment to collaborating in international initiatives that foster sustainability and innovation in the protection of coastal ecosystems.
Representing the Port of Aveiro at the meeting were Maria Manuel Cruz, Head of Environment, and Sofia Ventura, from the Strategy Office.
This European consortium, developed under the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” of Horizon Europe, is led by the University of Aveiro and includes 30 European partners, among them the Ports of Aveiro and Figueira da Foz.
