The South Terminal of the Port of Aveiro hosted yesterday, October 8, the inauguration ceremony of the new facilities of Catana Group Portugal, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of luxury boats. The event was attended by the President of the Port of Aveiro, Eduardo Feio; the President of Catana Group, Aurélien Ponin; the Mayors of Ílhavo and Aveiro, João Campolargo and José Ribau Esteves, respectively; and the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida.

Established at the Port of Aveiro since 2022, Catana Group produced more than 300 catamarans this year, positioning itself as the world’s second-largest manufacturer of this type of vessel. With an investment of around 40 million euros, Catana Group has now inaugurated a new production unit, strengthening the group’s operations in Portugal and fostering the creation of qualified jobs, technological innovation, and regional economic growth.

This investment also reinforces the role of the Port of Aveiro as a dynamic industrial ecosystem, connected to innovation and the sea.

With nearly 40 years of experience, Catana Group specializes in the design and manufacture of luxury vessels, particularly catamarans, and operates production sites in France, Tunisia, and Portugal.
