The ship KAREN MAERSK docked on November 12 at Pier 26 of the Liquid Bulk Terminal at the Port of Aveiro, becoming the largest ship ever to call at this terminal. Measuring almost 184 meters in length and 28 meters in width, the ship brought around 24,000 tons of fuel to the Port of Aveiro from the Middle East, destined for PRIO, a company operating at this terminal.
The ship is currently unloading and is scheduled to depart on November 14 for Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
The call of this ship demonstrates the operational capacity and competitiveness of the Liquid Bulk Terminal. It should be noted that last year, the Port of Aveiro replaced the fenders and mooring bollards at Pier 26, precisely with the aim of providing this infrastructure with the necessary conditions to receive ships of up to 40,000 tons of displacement. With the completion of the work, the Port of Aveiro is now able to receive larger ships in complete safety, responding to the growing needs of the market.
