On 4 February, the Port of Aveiro recorded a historic operational record by handling 117,874 tonnes of cargo in a period of just six hours. This exceptional performance was made possible by a window of more favourable weather conditions, which allowed port operations to be intensified.
Between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., 22 vessels were manoeuvred, transporting a total of 117,874 tonnes through import and export operations.
The manoeuvres were carried out with reinforced technical teams for pilotage, the naval fleet, the port coordination service, as well as the concessionaire company responsible for tugboat and mooring services, ensuring high standards of safety and operational efficiency.
This result highlights the Port of Aveiro’s high logistical capacity and underlines its strategic relevance in the context of national and international maritime transport, consolidating its role as one of the country’s main port hubs.
