The Port of Aveiro has strengthened its commitment to sustainability and to the transition towards more circular development models by joining the 3rd edition of the Circular Economy Pact in the Centre Region, promoted by the Centre Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Centro). This initiative brings together entities from across the Centre Region that are committed to promoting practices and actions that accelerate the transition to a more sustainable economic model in Portugal.
The Circular Economy Pact in the Centre Region is a voluntary commitment, open to organisations willing to implement, over the 2026–2027 biennium, at least one action that directly contributes to resource valorisation, waste reduction, and the promotion of the circular economy. Within this framework, the Port of Aveiro has proposed two concrete actions.
With more than 200 entities already signatories—the highest number ever recorded in this regional initiative—the Pact represents a collective response to the challenges of environmental sustainability, competitiveness, and territorial cohesion in the Centre Region.
By joining this commitment, the Port of Aveiro becomes part of a diverse network of organisations dedicated to developing innovative practices, which may include areas such as digitalisation, efficient use of resources, promotion of responsible consumption, and the integration of circular economy principles into operations and value chains.
