In April 2021, the Port of Aveiro recorded a growth of 5.7% compared to the same period last year, handling 438 509 tonnes. Contributed to this increase in port traffic, the break bulk cargo (4.2%), solid bulks (3.8%), and liquid bulks (13.1%).

It is important to point out that the Port of Aveiro reinforced its foreland, in view of the maritime connections with the Asian market, North America and South America.
Regarding the number of ships that called at the Port of Aveiro, an increase of 6.2% was registered with a total of 86 ships.

The commodities that most contributed to the result achieved were forestry and agro-food products, coke/clinker and raw materials for Bio-fuels. The growth in the handling of components for wind power production (onshore and offshore), which almost doubled in this first four-month period, should also be highlighted.
