Yesterday, July 12th, the Port of Aveiro received for the first time a vessel from the Port of Beira, in Mozambique. The debut of the call of the ship Sassy Sofia, included the official visit of the Mozambican Consul General, with a delegation of all the partners involved in this new project, Navigator Company, PTM Ibérica, BSL and Aveifoz.

During this meeting, the diplomatic representative got to know the Port of Aveiro and future investments, followed by a visit to the ship, where he watched the stowage operation of the logs coming from Mozambique.  In his speech, the Consul General highlighted the importance that the export of wood, produced in Mozambique and intended for the production of pulp in Portugal, represents for that country.

It is important to mention that the traffic of forest products in the Port of Aveiro has registered until June 2021, a growth of 21% compared to 2020, being already one of the main groups of goods of this port.

This strategic partnership, which is to be continued, will strengthen trade relations between Portugal and Mozambique, affirming the Port of Aveiro as a port able to provide solutions to long-distance sea routes.
