Port of Aveiro grows 19% in the first semester 2021

The traffic of the Port of Aveiro recorded in the first semester of 2021 was 2.9 million tonnes, corresponding to a growth of 19.19%, reflecting a new historical mark of this port infrastructure.

This growth was achieved in all types of cargo, with emphasis on general break bulk cargo, with an increase of 24% (953 000 tonnes), and the segment of bulk liquids, with an increase of 22%, totalling a volume of 735 000 tonnes.

In this semester 56 more ships called at the Port of Aveiro, in a total of 539 ships, which translated into an increase of 12%, and an increase in their size, 16% more GT.

In comparison with the year 2019, the Port of Aveiro grew by 5.23% being this data demonstrative of the recovery of the national industry.

The goods that contributed most to the result achieved were agri-food, forestry, chemical and metallurgical products. The wind power structures doubled the traffic in 2021.
