Port of Aveiro handles 17.6% more cargo up to July 2021

Up to July 2021, the Port of Aveiro handled 17.6% more cargo compared to the same period of the previous year, for a total of 3.323 Million tonnes. In relation to the same period of 2019 (pre-pandemic) the Port of Aveiro has grown 4.48%.

With regard to cargo typologies, break bulk cargo recorded a volume of 1,077,417 tonnes (+ 22.4%), solid bulk 1,380,166 tonnes (+ 20.2%) and liquid bulk 865,600 tonnes (+ 12.7%).

The commodities that contributed most to this performance were metallurgical, forestry, agri-food and chemical products, non-metallic minerals and liquid fuels.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a consistent increase in the handling of wind energy component products, which in the year-to-date increased by 92%.

The number of ships also reflects the increase of merchandise, having called at the Port of Aveiro 631 ships (+ 11%), with an increase of 16% of GT.
