The Port of Aveiro continues on a growth path, registering port traffic up 13.3% until August 2021, compared with the same period of the previous year, for a total of 3 753 million tonnes.
In general break bulk cargo there was an increase of 21.7% (1 219 169 tonnes), in the solid bulk segments more 5.2% (1 532 600 tonnes) and in the liquid bulk more 17.4% (1 001 735 tonnes).
This strong growth was marked by the contribution of forest products (+28.5%), chemical products by +19.9% and metallurgical products (+17.8%), with wind energy components doubling the traffic compared to 2020.
The number of ships that called at the port also registers an increase of more 10.4%, with a total of 716 ships, also increasing in size with a growth in GT (Gross Tonnage) of 12.5%.
