The Port of Aveiro reached today the best year ever with the mark of 5,632 million tonnes handled.
Throughout successive months of record breaking, this was already an expected result, culminating today with the entry of a ship from Brazil loaded with 27,915 tons of wood logs.
Although the figures are still provisional, it is already certain that the growth of forest products (+ 217%), steel products (+ 21%) and chemical products (+ 15%) have greatly contributed to this record, which is expected to reach 5.680 Million tons by the end of 2021.
The entry of ships with bigger beam and length dimensions was decisive for the Port of Aveiro to reach this result.
It should be recalled that the best year ever in the Port of Aveiro had been recorded in 2018 with the mark of 5,623 million tonnes handled.
