•    This change will result in an annual energy saving of 295,942 kWh and a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of 72 tonnes per year.

The Port of Aveiro has completed the replacement of high-pressure sodium lamps with LED luminaires throughout the port area: terminals, roads and the port ring road, a total of 751 luminaires.
The contract, with a budget of 317,700.00 euros, is expected to pay for itself within 6 years due to the reduction in energy costs. 
By carrying out this procedure, the Port of Aveiro is fulfilling one of the actions of its Energy Transition Strategy, defined for 2021, in terms of promoting energy efficiency measures in public lighting, thus contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal - to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
This work is also in line with the objectives set by this Board to strengthen security in the port area.
