In accordance with Notice to the Media No. 80/2024 of 10 December from the Portuguese Environment Agency, IP (https://apambiente.pt/sites/default/files/_A_APA/Comunicacao/Media/NotasOCS2024/notaocs_80terminal-intermodal-do-porto-de-aveiro.pdf), the environmental licensing process for the project to build the Intermodal Terminal at the Port of Aveiro, which is subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment, is under public consultation on the Participa portal (https://participa.pt/pt/consulta/terminal-intermodal-do-porto-de-aveiro) until 22 January.

The Project for the Construction of the Intermodal Terminal and the Improvement of the Railway Bundles in the ZALI of the Port of Aveiro, which aims to increase the capacity and improve the railway infrastructure of the port, consists of the construction of an intermodal terminal, covering an area of 9.4 hectares, and the improvement of the bundle of lines for the reception and dispatch of railway trains, allowing the operation of trains up to 750 metres long and increasing the efficiency of the railway services provided. This investment is aimed at strengthening the connection of the Port of Aveiro to the Aveiro-Salamanca-Valladolid/Madrid corridor, in order to attract new business to the port and improve the environmental sustainability of land-based logistics flows.

The investment, estimated at €16 million, has been approved by CEF2 under the dual-use infrastructure funding line for a total of €7.6 million, representing an approved rate of support of 47.3%.
