The Administration of the Port of Aveiro attended the formal ceremony marking the 144th anniversary of the Aveiro Old Firefighters, held at the corporation’s headquarters on February 1. The event brought together several civil and institutional entities in a moment of celebration and recognition of the humanitarian association’s historic role in the city.
The commemoration was marked by speeches highlighting the challenges faced by firefighters, particularly in terms of funding, renewal of resources, and the recruitment of new volunteers, as well as by the recognition of the service provided to the community for over a century.
The presence of the Port of Aveiro at the event reinforced the institutional recognition of the work carried out by the Aveiro Old Firefighters and the importance of cooperation among different sectors of civil society in safeguarding and protecting the population.
The ceremony also included the presentation of honorary distinctions and formed part of the official celebrations of the anniversary of the corporation, founded in 1881.
