
In February and March 2026, the Port of Aveiro recorded its best-ever monthly figures for cargo handling, confirming a record start to the year. In February, 620,902 tonnes were handled, exceeding the figure recorded in the same month of 2025. March, meanwhile, set a new all-time high, with 634,631 tonnes, up from the 523,272 tonnes recorded in the same period the previous year.
In the year to March, the Port of Aveiro totalled 1,611,429 tonnes, representing a 10.9% increase compared to 2025. Dry bulk remains the most handled cargo, with 644,592 tonnes in the first quarter of the year, followed by general cargo and liquid bulk.
The number of ships handled also increased, with a total of 270 calls up to March, 17% more than in the same period of 2025.
The figures now released confirm the best quarter ever for cargo handling at the Port of Aveiro. These results reflect a port that is increasingly efficient in meeting the demands of maritime traffic and the movement of goods.
