Contract agreements signed for an investment of approximately €1 million, reinforcing the Port of Aveiro’s decarbonisation strategy and energy autonomy
The Port of Aveiro Administration (APA, S.A.) today signed the contract agreements for the construction of Photovoltaic Infrastructures for Self-Consumption, covering Lots 1, 3 and 4, awarded to Elísio Paulo & Azevedo, Lda. This marks the start of a strategic investment that further strengthens the Port of Aveiro’s commitment to the energy transition and environmental sustainability.
With a total investment of €972,748.00, the project forms part of the Port of Aveiro’s Energy Transition Strategy and will significantly increase its renewable energy generation capacity for self-consumption. This will reduce dependence on the public electricity grid, lower energy consumption costs, and contribute to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The project will receive support from the Portuguese Environmental Fund (Fundo Ambiental), under Project No. 73 (ACC/CER), and is financed through Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, with an approved grant of €499,946.99. It is also aligned with the objectives set out in the European Green Deal and the Portuguese Framework Climate Law (Law No. 98/2021).
Through this investment, APA, S.A. further reinforces its commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing solutions that promote more efficient energy resource management and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient port infrastructure. This initiative is aligned with both national and European decarbonisation targets, including the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2050 and the progressive reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and 2040.
