This memorandum is especially relevant for the Port of Aveiro because it is another step in the implementation of its digital transformation strategy, aiming to position the Port of Aveiro as a Smart and Green Port. The objective of this partnership is the creation of synergies for the construction of a port of the future, translated into collaboration and joint efforts with a view to carrying out a Proof of Concept (PoC), with the implementation of various "use-cases" (UCs) applied to port activity.

The partnership will start with a PoC that aims at the implementation of two Use Cases (UC), the first one oriented to the management of the port activity and the second UC, has as purpose the efficient management of water and energy consumption in all the port's jurisdiction area, as an initiative aligned with the Energy Transition Strategy of the Port of Aveiro towards a Green Port.

It is also intended that this solution interacts with JUL - Janela Única Logística in order to simplify and dematerialize the processes involved.

With the goal of positioning themselves as a Smart and Green Port, the Port of Aveiro and the Port of Figueira da Foz aim to extend cooperation and partnerships to exploratory projects of open innovation in their area of jurisdiction, which intend to add value to these ports, to all their stakeholders, and to their Port Communities.
In the words of Fátima Lopes Alves, President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Aveiro, this is another important step for the Port of Aveiro in its focus on technological modernisation and digital transformation, continuing to find innovative solutions aimed at the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of its activity and the improvement of its infrastructure and services, taking advantage and enhancing the organic ecosystem of innovation in which it operates.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Fátima Lopes Alves, President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Aveiro, and Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Altice Portugal.
